THE FINDINGNEOLITHIC PICTURES

Central guide / Documented experience

AI filmmaking. Direction before the tool.

What The Finding documents, which decisions remain human and which evidence is missing. A path for producers and filmmakers, not a software catalogue.

The courteous one, a still from The Finding

Primary sources and stated limits

The substance is here, accessible without registration. Practices reported by the author are separated from general guidance; missing evidence is not reconstructed. Finished film still, not backstage.

Editorial synthesis from Vincenzo Lo Re’s notes · Sources reviewed 19 October 2026

The film was made with generative tools, but not by them. Every frame was directed: lens, light, blocking, continuity. The technology gave a small Sicilian company access to a scale of production it could not otherwise afford. It did not give it a point of view.

01 / Development and direction

Can AI supply the film’s point of view?

The Finding · Available evidence

The director’s statement places the trovatura and the ex voto at the centre of the story. The published note identifies the absence of dialogue as an initial creative decision, not a tool limitation.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Define the dramatic action and what the spectator must understand before choosing a generation method. The director remains responsible for framing, blocking and what to withhold.

Evidence limit: No annotated screenplay or shot breakdown is public.

02 / Visual development

What is documented about the visual workflow?

The Finding · Available evidence

The author’s video description credits generative image/video work within Higgsfield and conventional editing and post-production in Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. This is a production credit, not a reproducible tool recipe.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Agree palette, silhouettes, locations and reference rights in a visual brief. A consistent final still does not prove the generation process that produced it.

Evidence limit: No reference board, model versions or prompt archive has been supplied.

03 / Character consistency

Does repeating a prompt preserve identity?

The Finding · Available evidence

The continuity note reports fixed references for each character, reused during generation. It also reports that prompt-only descriptions did not keep faces and costumes stable. These are the author’s published observations, not an independently measured benchmark.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Check identity, costume, age and proportions across adjacent shots, rather than approving each image in isolation.

Evidence limit: The actual reference sheets and rejected variants are not public.

04 / Continuity between shots

What makes two generated shots belong together?

The Finding · Available evidence

The published account describes selecting variants by eye and grading scenes toward a shared palette. It explicitly acknowledges residual drift.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Review eyelines, screen direction, object position, light and action across the cut. Judge the transition in the edit, not just the two endpoints.

Evidence limit: No side-by-side source/finished pair or quantitative improvement is available.

05 / Movement

How should movement be evaluated?

The Finding · Available evidence

The author credits AI video generation. The available notes do not document camera paths, motion controls or which shots required specific interventions.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Inspect temporal deformation, contact with the ground, hand-object interaction and whether the movement serves the dramatic action. This is a proposed review method, not a claim about checks performed on this film.

Evidence limit: A shot-level motion case study awaits original clips and author annotations.

06 / VFX and artifact correction

What can the public material demonstrate?

The Finding · Available evidence

The continuity article discusses drift reduction; the video credits conventional compositing and post-production. Neither source supplies an artifact repair breakdown.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Distinguish selection of a better take, grading and local compositing repairs. A finished frame alone cannot establish which technique was used.

Evidence limit: No masks, layers or authorized before/after clips are available.

07 / Editing

How does a film tell a story without explanatory dialogue?

The Finding · Available evidence

The editing note describes a structure of find, offer and exchange, with cuts landing on material objects. The stated result is an object-led narrative, not a measured audience response.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Test whether action, spatial relations and consequences remain readable without exposition. Keep an alternative cut to compare rhythm and comprehension when possible.

Evidence limit: No alternative edits, timeline or audience-test records are public.

08 / Sound and music

Does dialogue-free mean silent?

The Finding · Available evidence

No. The editing note describes ambient sound and music shaped around the cut. The author’s video credits AI-generated audio and music made with ElevenLabs and Suno under the author’s creative direction.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Separate score, ambience, effects and final mix responsibilities. Verify rights, synchronization and the playback specification required by each venue.

Evidence limit: No stems, cue sheet, mix report or license documentation is supplied.

09 / Quality control

Is there a documented quality-control protocol?

The Finding · Available evidence

The notes document human selection and acknowledged continuity limits. They do not provide a signed QC report or acceptance thresholds.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Use a shot log for identity, geometry, motion, continuity and sound, then review the exported file end to end. Assign an approver and record unresolved defects.

Evidence limit: The downloadable worksheet is a new planning aid, not a reconstruction of the film’s production log.

10 / Deliveries and version control

Which runtime and deliverables can a programmer rely on?

The Finding · Available evidence

The site declares 13′56″ and AIFJ lists 13:50. The linked YouTube upload is listed as 14:00. The master has not been supplied for inspection; these figures must not be silently treated as the same version.

General guidance · Not a production claim

Confirm the master file, exact duration, frame rate, resolution, sound layout, rights and any required DCP before committing a screening. No DCP availability is asserted here.

Evidence limit: Runtime and technical delivery remain subject to production confirmation.

Questions before producing or programming

What does this method enable?
The case documents a film built from generative images and video, assembled and finished with conventional post-production. It does not demonstrate equal reliability for every screenplay.
What requires human direction?
Intention, narrative, blocking, selection, continuity, rhythm and final approval: these are responsibilities described in the author’s notes.
What does it cost and how long does it take?
Budgets, actuals and iteration logs are not public. We do not infer estimates or commercial promises from the film’s running time.
Which collaborations are documented?
The site provides contacts for screenings, press, distribution and production conversations. Writing, directing and editing are credited to Vincenzo Lo Re. Availability, quotes, rights and services require agreement; this is not an established service offer.
What can I assess now?
The linked film, Journal notes and official finished stills are accessible without registration. Masters, DCPs, sound stems, before/after material and releases are not included in this collection.
